Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

GateAI (“GateAI”, “we”, “us”) provides an adaptive GATE CS diagnostic, practice exams, and related study tools. This policy applies to our website and product experiences at GateAI.

2. Information we collect

Depending on how you use GateAI, we may collect:

  • Account details — name, email address, and authentication credentials (or, when you sign in with Google, identifiers and profile fields Google shares with us).
  • Exam & learning data — answers, marks, timing, progress, diagnostic reports, and plan preferences you generate while using the product. Some of this may be processed by AI systems to produce personalized feedback.
  • Usage & device data — pages and features used, approximate location from IP, browser and device type, referrer, and similar technical signals via PostHog and web analytics.
  • Communications — messages you send us about support, billing, privacy requests, or product feedback. You can send feedback without an account; optional name and email are stored only if you provide them.

3. How we use information

  • Provide, secure, and improve diagnostics, exams, and reports.
  • Generate AI-assisted feedback such as diagnostic narratives, topic priorities, and prep-plan suggestions from your attempt data.
  • Create and manage your account, including Pro plan access.
  • Measure product and website performance with PostHog and web analytics.
  • Prevent abuse, debug issues, and keep sessions secure.
  • Communicate about your account, service changes, or responses to your requests.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use exam answers to advertise third-party products to you.

4. Data collectors and processors

These are the third-party and contracted services we use (or will use) for analytics, AI feedback, and sign-in. Core exam and account data stays on infrastructure in India.

  • PostHog (Product analytics; In use) — We use PostHog to understand how aspirants use GateAI — page views, feature usage, sign-in events, exam starts and submissions, and similar product events. This helps us improve the diagnostic and prep experience. PostHog may receive device and usage identifiers tied to your session or account.
  • Google Analytics (Site measurement; In use) — We use Google Analytics (GA4) on marketing and product pages to measure traffic, referrers, and aggregate engagement. Google may collect standard web metrics such as pages visited, approximate location derived from IP, browser type, and device category. We use this to understand reach and improve the site — not to sell personal profiles.
  • AI processors (Diagnostic & prep feedback; In use) — We use AI systems we operate or contract to generate diagnostic narratives, topic priorities, prep-plan guidance, and similar feedback. Relevant attempt data — answers, timing, confidence signals, and related performance metrics — may be sent to those systems solely to produce personalized output for you.
  • Cloudflare Turnstile (Bot & abuse protection; In use) — We use Cloudflare Turnstile on our sign-in, contact, and feedback forms to help block automated abuse. It runs a browser-based security check that may collect technical signals such as IP address, browser and device information, and interaction data. Turnstile is provided by Cloudflare, Inc., and its data handling is subject to Cloudflare’s privacy policy and terms.
  • Google Sign-In (Authentication; In use) — You can create or access an account with your Google credentials. Google authenticates you and shares basic profile information (such as name, email, and a Google account identifier) with GateAI under Google’s terms and your Google account settings. You can continue using email and password sign-in.
  • Connected apps, including ChatGPT (User-authorized study access; Only when you connect an app) — If you connect an external app, its provider receives only the GateAI topics, progress, results, or mock-test data requested through that connection. The app may process or retain what you choose to share under its own privacy policy. The GateAI connection does not request your full conversation history.

Our sign-in, contact, and feedback forms are protected by Cloudflare Turnstile. Its use is subject to Cloudflare’s Turnstile Privacy Policy and Cloudflare’s Terms of Use.

5. Where we store data

Application data for GateAI — including accounts, exam attempts, scores, and diagnostic reports — is hosted on servers located in India only. We design our primary storage and processing for those records to remain in Indian infrastructure.

Analytics, AI, and authentication providers listed in this policy may process limited technical or identity data under their own policies when you use those features. We configure them to collect only what we need to operate and improve GateAI.

6. Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies and local storage for sign-in sessions, security, preferences, and analytics (including PostHog and Google Analytics). The Cloudflare Turnstile security check on our sign-in and contact forms may also use cookies or local storage as part of its bot detection. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling some cookies may limit signed-in features.

7. AI processing

Parts of GateAI are assisted by artificial intelligence. That includes diagnostic reports, topic priority suggestions, prep-plan guidance, and similar personalized feedback built from your attempt data.

To generate that feedback, we may send relevant exam and learning data — such as answers, marks, timing, confidence signals, and related performance metrics — to AI systems we operate or contract. Those processors use the data to produce output for your account. We do not use your exam answers to sell advertising.

AI-generated content can be incomplete, imprecise, or wrong. Treat it as study guidance, not official GATE counseling or a guaranteed rank. How this fits the product experience is also described in our Terms of Service.

8. Sharing

We share personal information only when needed to:

  • Operate the service through processors named in this policy (PostHog, Cloudflare, Google Analytics, AI processors for feedback, and Google Sign-In).
  • Comply with law, enforce our terms, or protect users and GateAI.
  • Complete a business transfer (for example a merger), subject to appropriate safeguards.
  • Send study data requested through an app you connect, such as ChatGPT, to that app's provider so it can answer your request.

Connected apps

You can choose to connect an external app to GateAI. The consent screen shows whether it can read your study progress, mock results, and topic information or update progress and mock answers. GateAI shares only the data requested through those tools. We store the app registration, your consent, and authorization tokens to keep the connection working; we do not collect the full chat transcript.

Access tokens expire after five minutes. Your consent and refresh token records remain while you keep the app connected. You can remove those records in Connected appsor ask us to delete your account. An app registration may remain for other users. A token already issued may remain valid until its short expiry. Data sent to the external app is also subject to that provider's privacy practices and may be processed outside India.

9. Retention

We keep account and exam history while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward so you can return to reports and plans. Analytics events are retained according to our analytics configuration and provider defaults. You may request deletion of your account data as described below.

10. Your choices and rights

Subject to applicable Indian law, you may:

  • Access or update account details in your GateAI profile.
  • Request a copy or deletion of personal data we hold about you.
  • Opt out of non-essential analytics where we offer a control, or block analytics cookies in your browser.
  • Disconnect Google Sign-In and use email sign-in instead.

To exercise these rights, contact us using the details in the next section. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request.

11. Children

GateAI is aimed at GATE aspirants and is not directed at children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal data, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

12. Changes

We may update this policy as we add features or change how analytics are configured. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
